My name is Antonio Driver, and my story begins in Flint, Michigan, a city known for its resilience. At the age of five, I entered the child welfare system. By twelve, I was adopted by a remarkable woman who opened her home not just to me, but to my biological brother and four other boys. That act of love didn’t just give me a home, it shaped my understanding of family, responsibility, and what it means to serve others. Family has always been my foundation. I’m a proud brother of nine, an uncle to many, and a godfather to my beautiful goddaughter, London. They inspire me daily and remind me why I do this work. For me, public service is not about politics. It is about people. It is about creating the kind of community where families can thrive and no one gets left behind.

I got my start in public service by volunteering on my neighbor’s campaigns for Mayor and State Representative. I didn’t have a title or any special connections, just a desire to help, a commitment to my community, and a belief that real change starts with showing up and doing the work. That experience taught me that politics is not about power. It is about purpose. In high school, I continued that path and served as Student Council President at Flint Central High School from 2005 to 2007. I used my voice to advocate for students, push for inclusion, and make sure everyone felt heard. Even then, I understood that leadership meant listening first and lifting others up. After graduating, I pursued degrees in Criminal Justice and Management, and later earned my Master of Business Administration.

But my heart has always been in service. That is why today, I am proud to serve as a teacher in Prince George’s County Public Schools. Every day, I work to give my students the support and encouragement I once needed myself. My classroom is a space for growth, confidence, and the belief that every child matters.

Outside of the classroom, I founded Speak Out, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering LGBTQIA+ individuals through advocacy, education, and community building. No one should ever feel invisible. Everyone deserves to be seen, valued, and protected—especially by the systems that are meant to serve them.

In 2023, I was honored to be appointed as Prince George’s County’s first LGBTQIA+ Liaison by then County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, who now serves as Maryland’s United States Senator. In that historic role, I worked across government agencies to improve access to housing, health care, mental health resources, and public safety, particularly for those too often left behind. I also proudly supported Senator Alsobrooks' campaign, and later helped elect our current County Executive. For me, leadership is about service. Plain and simple.

Now, I am running for Maryland State Senate in District 26.

I am running because I believe in our communities. I believe every

child deserves a great education. Every working family deserves a fair shot. And every neighborhood deserves to be safe, supported, and strong. I know what it feels like to be counted out. That is why I am running—to make sure no one else is. This campaign is about all of us. Our hopes. Our families. Our future. And together, I know we can build something better.
